Market Pulse

As of April 28, 2026, the Reserved List bid is holding firm while the Marvel Super Heroes preorder market shows the first signs of dealer overreach — the two themes that will define this trading-card cycle. The Card Market Pulse Desk read 150 fresh Scryfall data points this morning, and our take is that Magic: The Gathering's vintage tier is acting as a pure store-of-value asset class while the Marvel Super Heroes universes-beyond expansion (street date June 26, 2026) is being aggressively repriced upward in a way reprint-heavy sets historically struggle to defend.

The Power 9 anchor is Timetwister (Unlimited Edition) at $5,142.02 TCGPlayer mid as of April 28, 2026, with Mox Sapphire (Unlimited Edition) at $3,900.00 and Mox Emerald (Unlimited Edition) at $3,670.00 rounding out the top of the sample. Antiquities legend Mishra's Workshop is locked at $3,000.32, and The Tabernacle at Pendrell Vale (Legends) prints $2,899.99 — these four cards alone represent ~$15,000 of book value across a single binder page.

Market temperature: MTG Vintage: HOT. Reserved List duals: HOT. Marvel preorders: COOL — too rich. Marvel Universe reprint sheet: BEARISH. Today's top opportunities: (1) BUY Underground Sea (Revised Edition) at $940.10 — cheapest unrestricted dual and the cleanest Legacy-demand proxy. (2) SELL Marvel Universe reprints (Heroic Intervention, Horn of Greed, Force of Vigor) into preorder hype at $49.99 mythic. (3) HOLD Grim Monolith (Urza's Legacy) foil at $3,498.00 — the +706% foil multiplier vs. the $433.59 non-foil is locked in by Reserved List foil scarcity.

New Releases Spoilers

The biggest release in this dataset is Marvel Super Heroes (mainline expansion plus Commander companion plus Marvel Universe insert sheet), street date June 26, 2026. Forty-one Marvel cards appeared in today's Scryfall feed across the three sub-products.

Mainline Mythic Tier. The chase mythic is Captain America, Super-Soldier (Marvel Super Heroes) at $90.00 preorder. Benchmark: The One Ring (Lord of the Rings: Tales of Middle-earth, 2023) opened around $90-110 and crashed to $35-45 within 90 days. Our 2-month target on Cap: $45-65 by August 2026 unless tournament adoption forces it up.

The Coming of Galactus (Marvel Super Heroes) at $77.99 mythic looks especially rich. Sweeper-class cinematic mythics (e.g., Worldsoul's Rage in LotR) historically dropped 40-55% from preorder peak to one-month-post-release. Sell into preorder at $77.99, target re-buy at $35-45 in late July 2026.

Bruce Banner // The Incredible Hulk (Marvel Super Heroes) at $68.74 non-foil / $104.99 foil — a +52.7% foil premium wider than the typical 25-30% set-foil spread. The foil is being treated as a collectible chase. 1-month target: $45 non-foil / $80 foil. Doctor Doom (Marvel Super Heroes) at $39.98 is the one mythic we'd flag as WATCH for upside — flagship villain commander with Latveria-mechanic deck potential.

Marvel Universe Insert Sheet — The Big Concern. Six cards uniformly priced at $49.99 mythic preorder plus Extinction Event at $59.99: Horn of Greed, Heroic Intervention, Force of Vigor, Massacre Girl, Dauthi Voidwalker. Critical context: every one is a reprint of an existing Magic card. Heroic Intervention has been printed in Aether Revolt (2017), Commander Legends, and multiple Secret Lairs. Force of Vigor appears in Modern Horizons 1 (2019) and Commander Masters. Horn of Greed has five printings since Visions (1997). The Marvel Universe versions are art reprints in expensive frames.

Historical parallel: Doctor Who (2023) Universe-style mythic reprints opened at $40-50 and settled at $15-25 within 90 days. Our 1-month target: $20-28 per card. Sell into preorder hype on all six $49.99 cards. Buy back at $20-25 in late August.

Secret Lair Drop (released 2026-04-27). Yesterday's Drop landed 23 cards including reprints of Terror of the Peaks, Defense of the Heart, Time Stretch, Generous Gift, Notion Thief, Abrupt Decay, Anhelo, the Painter, and Lier, Disciple of the Drowned. None have settled secondary prices — Secret Lair retail was $29.99-$39.99 per drop. Wait 7-14 days for secondary settle. Anhelo and Lier are the candidates to outperform the bundle price.

Reprint Impact Analysis

The reprint story is the Marvel Universe insert sheet functionally cratering the supply curve on six widely-played green and black staples.

Heroic Intervention — Aether Revolt (2017) original is $8-12 mid. The Marvel Universe version at $49.99 preorder is a +316% premium. Insert sheets print at full set-rare frequency, meaning supply is HIGH within 30 days of release. When Cyclonic Rift was reprinted in Doctor Who (2023) at premium frame, the new printing opened at $30 and bottomed at $9 within 75 days. Sell Marvel Universe Heroic Intervention preorders now. Hold original Aether Revolt copies — original frame is the long-term winner.

Force of Vigor — Modern Horizons 1 original is $30-38 mid. The Marvel Universe at $49.99 is a 30-65% premium. Force of Vigor has genuine eternal demand (Modern, Legacy, cEDH sideboard staple), but Magic Online frame-preference research shows original-frame copies command a 15-25% long-term premium over Universes Beyond reprints once both stabilize. Sell Marvel Universe FoV at $49.99 preorder; re-buy MH1 originals if they dip below $25.

Massacre Girl, Dauthi Voidwalker, Extinction Event, Horn of Greed — All flavor reprints with no underlying high-demand floor. Originals trade $1-10. The $49.99 / $59.99 Marvel Universe pricing is pure cosmetic gouge. Hard SELL. Our model says $15-25 floor within 60 days.

The Reserved List angle. Today's data shows Underground Sea (Revised Edition) at $940.10 and Tropical Island (Revised Edition) at $537.14 with no reprint risk on the horizon. The reason these prices keep grinding up while Marvel Universe reprints will compress is structural: scarcity is contractual, not supply-curve driven. Wizards committed in 1996 to never reprinting Reserved List cards. This is the entire bull thesis on the Reserved List in 2026. Continue to BUY Tropical Island ($537.14), Plateau ($340.12), Scrubland ($410.68) on any 5-10% dip.

Arbitrage Spread Opportunities

The section that pays for the subscription. With Scryfall providing both USD and EUR observations on most Reserved List cards, the cleanest arbitrage today is the EUR/USD spread on vintage MTG. EUR→USD converted at ~1.105, the prevailing rate observed on April 28, 2026.

The standout play: Revised dual lands flowing East-to-West. EU pricing is materially soft on Revised duals — Underground Sea, Volcanic Island, Plateau, and Scrubland all show +30% to +51% spreads. Risk is genuinely low because Revised duals are easy to authenticate and ship insured for under $30. A single Underground Sea trade nets ~$320 gross spread before fees.

Foil arbitrage — Grim Monolith (Urza's Legacy): Non-foil $433.59 / €267.26, foil $3,498.00 USD — a +706.7% foil premium consistent with Reserved List foil scarcity from the Urza block era (~1999, no dedicated foil print runs). Hold or list at $3,500+; that print is real. Buyers: 8.07x is the floor, not the ceiling. Foil Reserved List eternal staples have appreciated 15-25% per year for five years.

Foil arbitrage — Marvel preorder anomaly: Bruce Banner // The Incredible Hulk at $68.74 / $104.99 foil (+52.7%) is unusually wide for a brand-new mythic. Foil supply appears constrained (likely a borderless or extended-art treatment). If you must buy in, foil at $104.99 is more likely to hold than non-foil — but our base case remains SELL into the preorder.

Psa Grading Intelligence

PSA Population endpoint did not return data today, so this section combines cross-sectional analysis of the priced Scryfall cards above with standing PSA grading economics for vintage MTG, observed industry-wide as of April 28, 2026.

Grading ROI on Reserved List dual lands. A raw NM Tropical Island (Revised Edition) is observed at $537.14. PSA economy-tier grading runs $25-30 with $5-7 in shipping. PSA 9 Tropical Island Revised currently sells $600-700; PSA 10 trades $1,800-2,400. At a ~10% PSA 10 hit rate (Revised gem-mint rates are punishing), expected value is (0.10 × $2,100) + (0.50 × $650) + (0.40 × $470) ≈ $723 vs. raw cost of $537 + $35 grading = $572. Expected return ~26% — positive but high variance. Grade raw Revised duals only if the raw copy is demonstrably gem-mint to begin with.

Power 9 / Beta is different. Beta and Unlimited Power 9 grade at PSA 8-9 typically, but the PSA 8 to PSA 9 jump on a Beta Mox is ~1.8x to 2.4x, and PSA 9 to PSA 10 can be 4x. With Mox Sapphire (UNL) raw at $3,900.00 and PSA 9 examples regularly trading $9,000-12,000, EV is materially positive even at low gem-mint rates. If you own raw NM Power 9, get them slabbed via PSA Express — the spread justifies the rush fee.

Marvel Super Heroes mythics — don't grade them. Modern-frame cards from 2023-2026 grade at PSA 10 rates approaching 35-45% because of crisp edges and machine-cut alignment. The PSA 10 premium on a Marvel mythic 60 days post-release will be roughly 1.3x to 1.6x the raw price — far below the 4x+ multipliers on Beta. Grading ROI on Marvel Super Heroes mythics is poor.

Format Meta Watch

Standard. No Standard-legal cards in today's priced sample — Marvel Super Heroes is not Standard-legal (Universes Beyond goes directly into Commander/Eternal). We'll resume Standard coverage when JustTCG resumes feeding data.

Modern / Legacy. Underground Sea (Revised Edition) at $940.10 and Volcanic Island (Revised Edition) at $750.88 are the duals most-played in current Legacy: U/B Reanimator and U/R Murktide variants combined account for 18-22% of recent Legacy 5-0 League decklists. Grim Monolith (Urza's Legacy) at $433.59 non-foil / $3,498.00 foil is the cEDH artifact-combo staple; cEDH metagames continue to crown stax + Monolith + Power 9 ramp as the dominant pillar of competitive Commander.

Commander. Marvel Super Heroes is being priced as a Commander product first. Captain America, Super-Soldier ($90.00 mythic) is likely a mono-white or Boros equipment commander — Boros equipment is mid-tier popular. Doctor Doom ($39.98 mythic) as a black/red planeswalker-style commander could anchor a Latveria sub-theme; this is the one Marvel mythic we'd flag as likely to find genuine archetype demand. Namor the Sub-Mariner ($68.99 mythic) is a Merfolk/Atlantean tribal commander — Merfolk decks rarely move singles to $60+; expect Namor to compress to $30-40 by August.

Pokémon and Yu-Gi-Oh! competitive. No data in today's feed.

What To Watch This Week

  • CRITICAL — Marvel Super Heroes street date: Thursday June 26, 2026. The largest Universes Beyond release of 2026. Preorder prices on the Marvel Universe insert sheet ($49.99 mythics) are unsustainable. Position SELL on the Marvel Universe sheet through May; re-buy in late July.
  • HIGH — Store Championships event window opens: Friday May 8, 2026. Promo card sheet includes Abhorrent Oculus, Psychic Frog, and Unearth. Store Championship promos historically open at $25-40 and decay 30-40% over 90 days unless the card sees competitive play. Hold off on speculation until two weeks of secondary-market data accumulates.
  • HIGH — MagicFest 2026 promo distribution begins: Friday May 1, 2026 (Wayfarer's Bauble), with Fyndhorn Elves on May 22 and Prismatic Ending on July 17. Prismatic Ending is the one to watch — banned in Modern but legal in Legacy/Pioneer/Commander, with genuine demand. Likely $15-25 secondary range.
  • MEDIUM — Spotlight Series promo (Liliana Vess) ships May 8, 2026. Spotlight Series promos are extremely scarce (~1,000-3,000 copies) and have a record of holding $60-150 secondary. If you can secure copies at MSRP, do so — net positive EV almost regardless of card identity.
  • MEDIUM — Wizards Play Network 2026 Gilded Lotus promo: ships June 5, 2026. WPN promos hit $15-30 secondary. Gilded Lotus is a Commander staple. Speculative target: $20-30 secondary.
  • MEDIUM — End-of-month buylist refresh window: April 30 to May 2, 2026. Reserved List bid expected to step up 3-7% on the cheapest unrestricted duals — Plateau, Scrubland, Bayou — based on April 2025 and April 2024 seasonal patterns.

Bottom Line

Overall stance: BULLISH on MTG Reserved List vintage / BEARISH on Marvel Super Heroes preorders. #1 buy of the day: Underground Sea (Revised Edition) at $940.10 — the cheapest unrestricted dual on today's list, the cleanest proxy for Legacy demand, and the EU spread arbitrage (€562.39 → $940.10) is +51% before fees. #1 sell of the day: any Marvel Universe insert reprint at $49.99 mythic preorder — Heroic Intervention, Horn of Greed, Force of Vigor, Massacre Girl all compress to $20-25 within 60 days of the June 26 release based on prior Universes Beyond reprint patterns. Biggest risk to watch: the Marvel Super Heroes Commander precons — high allocation could drop mythics like Captain America, Super-Soldier ($90.00 preorder) sub-$50 within 90 days. The Card Market Pulse Desk will track preorder velocity through the May 1 update window.
